C-61

What a load of bull. I'm outraged by this . I've heard this before and it's the same reaction. I'm sick and tired of other people trying to control what I do with music and software.  I hate how everyone is trying to control parts of my life and attach a price tag to it. I appears to be something forced upon us from American RIAA lobbyists. Where is the protection for the artists? It all seems in the lobbyists favour. No money is directed towards the artists. They just get protection.

I disagree with the bill. If they want to limit what I can do with DVD's, music and other media, then stop charging so much money for music and movies! If I only buy a copy of the music I purchase on CD, then why are you charging me seventeen ninety-nine? If i only get a copy, then charge me thirty cents for the CD and a couple dollars for the ability to listen to the copy of the original music that I own. I disagree with this bill because as far as I know, there are no changes to protect the artist, just the industry.

The implications Canadians are facing generally limit the amount of copies we can make of our movies and music. We can't unlock locked DVD's, CD's, and DRM software. We can't share movies or pictures that has protected content in it either. It does, however, hand over some more of our digital rights over to the corporations, and the Americans. I can't see any benefits to C-61.  Of course there is protection, but protection for whom and for what cause? This is one sided and the consumer holds the short straw in every aspect.

It seems bizzare that only roughly seventy-five percent of Canadians oppose this bill. Why isn't it higher? Who are they worried about? Are they blindly accepting another government implemented control, which they would most likely complain about later on? This frustrates me. I'm not joining the Facebook group. I don't need a "good guy badge". It seems twenty-five percent of Canada wants to sew another one on to their sash. Ugh.
